The Book of Nahum

3 chapters. Nahum speaks to people living under the shadow of Assyria, the empire that had terrorized the nations for generations. He announces that Nineveh will fall — and in the same breath insists that the LORD is slow to anger, good, and a stronghold for those who take refuge in Him. It is a short book about a patient God who will not finally clear the guilty, and about feet on the mountains bringing good news to the afflicted.
